G.A.A. History of Cashel and Rosegreen 1884-1984

This book tells the history of the G.A.A. in the parish of Cashel and Rosegreen over the period of a century.

Highlights include accounts of the twelve West Division senior hurling championships won by the club, the two South Division senior hurling championships, and the two South Division senior hurling championships won by Racecourse, a team that existed in the parish in the early part of the twentieth century. There are also accounts of county championships won by the club in other grades of hurling and football.

The history also includes accounts of other teams, such as Racecourse, that existed in the parish, including the Abbey Rangers, the Crokes, Rosegreen, Knocknagow.

Very interesting are the profiles of club players who won All-Ireland senior hurling titles with Tipperary, Jack Ryan (1937), Jim Devitt (1945 & 1949) and Peter O’Sullivan (1964, 1965, 1966). There are extensive accounts of handball, athletics and camogie.

As well as giving the history of hurling and football, the book gives interesting pieces on the social history of Cashel over the period, making the book much more that a mere sporting book.
